Custom Design Guidelines

Custom jewelry is a collaborative, detail-driven process. To ensure every piece meets our standards of quality, durability, and responsible sourcing, we’ve outlined the following guidelines.

Custom Design Minimum

Our custom design minimum begins at $3,000.

This starting point reflects more than materials alone. It honors the time, craftsmanship, and thoughtful process required to bring a one-of-a-kind piece to life. From the first spark of an idea to careful engineering, stone selection, and final finishing, each custom design is given devoted attention. To preserve this level of care, we accept only a limited number of custom commissions at a time, which ensures that every custom Fable piece meets the standard of quality and longevity we stand behind. 

If your budget is below our custom minimum, we invite you to explore our collection designs, where you can select your preferred stone shape and personalize details without committing to a fully custom process.

For clients providing their own stone through one of our approved cutting partners, the minimum investment may be semi-flexible to account for the stone itself. These requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Stone Sourcing & Stone Restrictions

We are happy to help you source the perfect stone. Simply share your preferred shape, gemstone, or general vision, and we will thoughtfully curate a selection of options for you to consider.

We are deeply committed to ethical sourcing, responsible partnerships, and long-term quality. For this reason, we do not use or accept stones purchased through mass-market or low-cost diamond sources that fall outside our standards for sustainability and craftsmanship.

Client-provided stones are accepted only when sourced through one of our trusted cutting partners, and a valid referral code is required.

A $150 stone sourcing deposit is required to begin this process. This deposit is non-refundable and covers the time, expertise, and resources dedicated to curating and presenting stone options.

Design Scope & Inspiration

We welcome inspiration and visual references and are glad to draw from the elements you love as a starting point for something entirely your own.

That said, we do not replicate or directly copy the work of other jewelers. Their artistry deserves the same respect we hold for our own. Every custom piece is thoughtfully reimagined through the Fable aesthetic and carefully engineered for beauty, balance, and longevity.

Timeline & Rush Orders

Custom design timelines typically range from 4–6 weeks once the design and stone are approved.

Some designs may be eligible for a rush timeline for an additional fee. Please contact us before purchasing a rush option to confirm availability and feasibility.

Custom Design Deposit

All custom design commissions require a 10% non-refundable deposit to begin.

This deposit supports the time and care invested in design development, one-on-one consultation, and covers costs such as CAD work, sourcing, etc. Throughout the process, you are welcome to refine and adjust your design direction as it evolves. Should you choose to pause or cancel the project, the design deposit remains non-refundable.

To ensure a thoughtful and collaborative experience for all involved, we reserve the right to conclude a custom project in cases of extended non-communication exceeding three weeks, or in the event of inappropriate or disrespectful behavior. In such instances, the design deposit will not be refunded.

We pride ourselves on working closely with our clients, offering attentive, one-on-one guidance to help bring each vision to life. At the same time, we are committed to maintaining a respectful and supportive environment for our team, whose care and craftsmanship make every Fable piece possible.

CAD Renderings & Final Appearance

Throughout the custom design process, we will provide CAD renderings and/or models to help visualize your piece before it moves into production. These renderings are an important step, please feel free to ask questions and provide feedback.

One note: due to the nature of CAD technology, certain elements—such as prongs, settings, and fine details—may appear thicker, sharper, or more exaggerated than they will be once finished. This is intentional, as the piece is engineered for structural integrity at this stage. During production, these elements are carefully refined, softened, and finished by hand to achieve the final, polished look.

We are committed to creating a piece you truly love. We encourage open communication throughout the design process and ask that you review each step closely and share any feedback or concerns along the way. Adjustments are most effective during the design phase, where we have the most flexibility to refine details.

Once a piece has entered or completed production, options for changes become significantly more limited. If a redesign or remake is requested after completion, this may be possible, but will incur an additional cost of approximately 10–30% of the original project. This reflects the labor required to deconstruct and recreate the piece from the beginning.

Our goal is always to collaborate with you to get every detail right before production begins, ensuring your final piece feels exactly as it should.
